This morning, we were reading, "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes," a China adoption story in which she has previously has shown no interest. I, of course, adapt it to add a father and brothers into the story. On the page where the babies came in to meet their new parents, Ari chimed in with the story, "I said, 'Go outside!'" Too funny; she knows the part of the story where she was bossy from minute number one!

Of Course, She Listens
Though giving no signs, Ari has been listening to her adoption story after all. :) We don't, of course, sit her down and tell her that she's adopted in any formal way, but we do say things casually, like, "When we met you in China," or "When we were in China meeting Ari." The other day, Cameron wanted to know where everyone was born: Andrew was born in Moscow, ID, USA; Conor was born in Spokane, WA, USA; Cameron was born in Spokane, WA, USA; Gabrian was born in Spokane, WA, USA; Ariana was born in Hepu, Guangxi province, China. I mention things like that casually so it will be matter-of-fact around the house.

She loves this story (personalized for her) and I am pleased that it has a "Nana" who was waiting to meet her when when arrived home (with her Auntie too!) along with her brothers.
